Ironic Student Protest

Last night, Montreal Police once again declared illegal what was an otherwise legal and (mostly) pacifist protest against the provincial university tuition increases. The night of April 25 saw massive police involvement to dissipate the crowds: tear gas, rubber bullets, pepper spray, etc. CUTV streamed live throughout the event.

Today, a group of students held an ironic anti-anti-protest. Dressed in military garb, they reiterated the Charest government's stance on the tuition hikes, highlighting what these increases might mean for both the average student, as well as the province and even the country. The "protest" celebrated the  widening gap between rich and poor, and the political strength of wealth and weapons.
