Student protests continued last week as Square Victoria was a sea of red for a 12 hour strike. Students are protesting the hike which is set to increase students fees by 75% over five years. Profs, children, hats, dogs, chairs, trees, drums, faces were all in support of the protest and all wearing red. Students demonstrated by tying themselves to trees unable to escape the trap. Others carried boxes to express the weight of the debt. Police kept an eye from the sidelines and cleared traffic for the hourly march through the streets of Oldport to loop back to Square Victoria. This is the sixth week of the strike and the longest in Quebec history.
