Yesterday was the 64th anniversary of the state of Israel and Montreal
celebrated with a stylish sea of Stars of David. Thousands marched
through the streets and ended at Dorchester Square where music and
dancing began. It was a pretty hectic day for rallies, crowds, colours
and protests. Just as the Israel day rally ended, the ironic student
protest passed through Rene Lexwhile another student protest gathered at
the northern side of Dorchester Square across the street. Police
gathered around a group of hasidic jews protesting Israel day on the
edge of Dorchester Square. All in all it was a great day for capturing
the comings and goings of one urban square in a small city.
